It is with great sadness that William "Greg" Norman, 71, of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away on July 7, 2025, after his battle with liver disease. Greg was a devoted husband and beloved member of the community. Survived by his wife, Sherry (née Hluska); brothers, Jeffrey and Ronald; stepchildren, Kerri (Ron), Anthony (Betty), Sherry (Steve), and Mischelle; grandchildren, Brittany, Dominic, Vincent, Brennan, Colin, and Megan; great granddaughter, Melody; and his cherished dog, Archie. Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Sally Hunter and Keith Norman, and stepchildren Susan and Arthur.
Friends may meet with the family on Friday, July 11, 2025 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave. Cedar Lake, IN. A service will be held at 1:00 pm in the Burdan Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at German Methodist Cemetery, Cedar Lake, IN.
Born in Kentucky, Greg grew up in Hammond, Indiana and graduated from Gavit High School in 1972. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and served overseas as an infantryman before his honorable discharge. He worked for Marathon as a welder and night manager before his retirement.
Greg was a gentle soul known for his warm sense of humor. He was an avid Chicago White Sox fan, gardener, and Harley Davidson enthusiast. In life, Greg was recognized for his selfless service, exceptional work ethic, and dedication to his career. Greg strived for excellence in everything he did, and his life was a testament to his upstanding character. His patience, loyalty, and honesty were cherished by all, and he will be sorely missed by his beloved family and friends.
