Gregory A. Fortin, known affectionately as Greg to his friends and family, left this world on May 24, 2025, at the age of 59. Born on March 27, 1966, in Hartford, Connecticut; later moved to Durham, Maine where he spent his childhood and teen years. Greg was a man whose laughter and love of life left a lasting imprint on the hearts of those who knew him. He passed away peacefully in Lewiston, Maine, due to health complications, surrounded by the love of his family.
Greg's early years in Hartford were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family. He was the cherished son of Herman Fortin, who preceded him in death, as did his brother Kenneth and nephew Ken Fortin II. The Fortin family's bond remained a cornerstone of Greg's life, as he continued to celebrate the love and guidance of his mother, Carolyn Nadeau. Greg's own family was the pride of his life; he is survived by his son Christopher Fortin, his son's wife, LeAnne, and his grandchildren, Nevaeh, Aiden, Domenic, and Carly. His long-time partner, Karen Hlister, his brother Jeff Fortin and his wife Debra, sister Marilyn Dwinal and her husband Bobby, along with his numerous nieces and nephews who will fondly remember his playful spirit and the wisdom he imparted.
Professionally, Greg was a respected siding and roofing contractor. His work was not just a job but a craft he honed with pride and excellence. His colleagues in the industry respected him for his integrity and dedication, and his clients trusted him for his quality workmanship and reliability. Greg's professional associations and friendships were a testament to his commitment to his trade and his belief in the value of hard work.
Beyond his professional life, Greg was a man who embraced the great outdoors with enthusiasm. Hunting, fishing, and camping were not just hobbies but passions that allowed him to connect with nature and create unforgettable memories with friends and family. His sense of humor was unmatched, and his laughter was a common sound around the campfire. Those who had the pleasure of joining him on these adventures will forever cherish the stories and moments shared under the open sky.
Greg's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the pursuit of happiness. His family will greatly miss him. His friends will miss the lightness he brought to every room and the laughter that seemed to follow him wherever he went.
As we bid farewell to Gregory A. Fortin, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and joy. While his passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, the memories of his vibrant spirit will continue to inspire and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know him. Greg's journey through life was marked by the love he gave and the lives he touched.
He will be deeply missed, but the legacy of Greg's kind heart, zest for life, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures will live on through his family and the many lives impacted. Though he has departed from this world, the essence of who he was will forever be etched in our hearts.
There will be a graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in Lisbon Falls on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 at 10:30 AM.
