Harold Michael Hathaway was born November 29, 1942, in Danville, IL, at 902 Hartsorn Lane in Fair Oaks Housing Project to Harold R Hathaway and Hazel L. Demoss Hathaway. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, John Frankino. He was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother: Patricia A. Roberts and Nancy L. (Gordon) Bradfield of Oakwood, IL, and Stephen R. Hathaway. On September 3rd, 1967, in Murdock, IL, he married Patricia V. Coslet. She preceded him in death on October 23, 2009. Together, they had two daughters, Carrie C. Hathaway of Danville, IL and Robin L. (Troy) Pasley of Rossville, IL. He is survived by their seven grandchildren, Kaitlin Hathaway, Hunter Howe, and Hannah Howe, all of Rossville, Jordan (Dustin)Morris of Oakwood IL, Blaine Pasley of Westville IL, Zachary Martin of Tilton IL, and Tyler (Madison)Pasley of Catlin IL. He also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren,
Harold attended Fairchild, McKinley, and Cannon Grade School and Danville High School. He served in the United States Air Force with the Strategic Air Command in the 6th Civil Engine Squadron at Walker Air Force Base in New Mexico from January 25, 1961, to January 25, 1965. After leaving the Air Force, he worked at Tee Pak for 39 years and eight months, from which he retired. After retiring, he spent his free time with his grandchildren. Harold enjoyed listening to old country music and rock and roll. He spent much of his time watching classic horror movies from the 1950s and reading Stephen King books. He had acquired a large collection of King novels throughout his life. He also enjoyed playing solitaire, poker, and Mario games on his Nintendo devices. Harold is remembered for being a wonderful father and grandfather to his family. He always made corny jokes, shared his favorite memories, and told his grandchildren random facts that only he would remember. He ensured that his family was always taken care of. He wanted to tell his surviving family not to be sad about his passing, as he had made peace with dying because he planned to be back with his loving wife, Patricia, in the afterlife. He will be missed dearly by all those around him.
The family would also like to thank the OSF hospice staff that aided Harold through his final journey.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating.
