Harold J. Heydt passed away on June 29, 2025, following a sudden illness. He was 73 years old.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Harold was the son of Harold M Heydt and Ethel M. Heydt. He graduated from Boyertown Area High School and pursued higher education at Stevens Institute of Technology, New Mexico State University, and the University of Idaho. He was also a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.
After completing his graduate studies, Harold began a long and varied professional journey, ultimately retiring in 2012 from the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), where he concluded his career as a systems engineer.
Harold was married to Jean M. Amory from 1974 to 1988, and during those years they welcomed their two children, Richard and Krystal.
His passions included photography, art, books, and mineral collecting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ethel, and his sister, Janice. He is survived by his son, Richard Heydt, and daughter, Krystal Wallace, as well as four grandchildren: Andrew, Daniel, Elizabeth, and Matthew.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 7, 2025, at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Sunday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road.
