Harold "Bruce" Merriman, 69, an Atwood, Oklahoma Farmer and Rancher passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by family.
Bruce was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Harold Merriman and Peggy (Blackburn) Merriman. Bruce's love for agriculture began early-his father put him on a tractor as a young boy, and he spent most of his life working in the field with his dad and brothers, Roger and Christie.
In 1991, Bruce married the love of his life, Lori (Dohlman) Merriman, gaining a stepson, Hoot, and later welcoming their daughter, Kaitlyn, in 1994. Together, Bruce and Lori had a passion for raising goats and watching Kaitlyn show across the country. Bruce was able to watch his granddaughter show at her first National show just weeks before his passing.
Bruce will be remembered as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, loyal brother, and cherished friend to many. His legacy as a hardworking farmer and a man of quiet strength and kindness will live on through his family.
Bruce is preceded in passing by his parents, Harold and Peggy Merriman, and brother Roger Merriman.
Those left to share the memory of Bruce include his wife Lori Merriman, of Fairland soon to be Miami, daughter, Kaitlyn Hofschulte and son in law Chris Hofschulte of Miami. Son Hoot Hoskin and daughter in law Erin Hoskin, of Ada. Brother Christie Merriman and sister in law Sherry of Atwood. Grandchildren Halee and Lottie Hofschulte and Trystan and KayDee Hoskin. Along with several nieces and nephew.
Visitation for Bruce will be Thursday, July 17, 2025 at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fairland from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Services for Mr. Merriman will be 2:00 PM on Friday, July 18, 2025 at First Christian Church's Chapel in Miami with Mr. Matt Cooley officiating. Interment will follow at the Glen Abbey Memorial Garden East of Miami.
