Mrs. Harriet Tracy Putman, age 90, of Richmond, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Arcadian Cove.

Mrs. Putman, the daughter of the late Fred and Hattie Chaplin Tracy, was born in Clemons, New York on September 4, 1934. She had worked for the government in various office positions. On April 20, 1958, she united in marriage to John H. "Jack" Putman, Sr. and they enjoyed travelling the world together.

She is survived by her sister-in-law, Marge Lanthier and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Harriet's life was marked by more sorrow than most could bear. She lost all nine of her brothers and sisters: David Tracy, Clifton Tracy, Leslie Tracy, John Tracy, Gerald Tracy, Frederick Tracy, Anna Lunt, Ethelyn Hall and Virginia Tracy. She and Jack also lost each of their children: John H. Putman, Jr., in 1991, Debra Jean Putman in 2013 and Julie Lynn Putman in 2020. And, then four months later, on January 12, 2021, she lost her husband after 52 years of marriage.

After Mr. Putman's death, Harriet moved into Arcadian Cove. While living there, she met the Brakefield's who she lovingly called "her adopted family." Crystal Brakefield, her caregiver, Jason, Crystal's husband and their children, Adelynn and Nolan opened their lives, as well as their hearts to Harriet. As a result, her last years included many trips to the children's ball games and to Lake Reba and spending all the holidays together. "Granny H," as she became known, especially enjoyed their weekly "Pizza and Game Night" while drinking her favorite milkshake.

Maybe the line from an old poem says it best. "You never really know that what today you say (or do) will impact a life forever in a heart touching way."

The family wishes to extend a heart felt "thank you" for the kindness shown to them by each member of the Arcadian Cove staff. Mrs. Putman dearly loved each of you.

At her request, there will be no public service.
