IRENE H. WILLIAMS, a beloved mother, grandmother,
and deeply devoted caretaker, transitioned peacefully into
eternal rest on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Community Hospice
after an extended illness. Born on December 10, 1936, Irene
was the cherished daughter of the late Deacon Willie Hunt and
Ola Mae Hunt.
Irene’s life was defined by unconditional love and unwavering
dedication, both professionally and personally. She was a
dedicated employee who retired at the age of 70 from the Toombs
Nursing Home. Her nurturing spirit was boundless; not only did
she raise her own children, but she also provided loving care for
a grandson during his childhood. Her commitment to caretaking
was lifelong, as she was actively caring for her “last baby” up until the age of 85.
On January 15, 1955, she joined in holy matrimony with the late
Deacon Herman Williams, Jr., sharing a devoted marriage of 55
years until his passing. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life,
first as a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Johnson
Corner Community and later moving her membership to First
African Baptist Church in Lyons, Georgia, where she also served
as mother of the church.
A woman whose heart knew no bounds, Irene was preceded in
death by her loving husband, Herman; three children; mother
and father; two sisters, Eloise Hart and Mary Bryant; and one
grandchild, Latonna Williams.
Her legacy of love and family lives on through those who survive
her: five devoted children; three sons, Donnell Williams, Karry
Williams (Silvia), and Tommy Williams; two daughters, Beverly
Williams and Tammie Johnson (Gregory); 14 grandchildren,
Marquis Williams, Jerrico Williams, Olivia Mayweather, Karry
Williams Jr., Tierra Williams, Kourtnee Williams, Devin Williams,
