A Mass of Christian Burial for Hazel McDonald will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with Msgr. Stephen Scott Chemino officiating. Burial will follow in the Gates of Heaven Mausoleum in Bunkie. Arrangements are under the direction of Hixson-Ducote Funeral Home of Bunkie.
Mrs. McDonald, age 98 of Bunkie, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at the Valley View Nursing Home in Mansura.
Mrs. McDonald was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and the Ladies Altar Society.
She is preceded in death by his husband, Curtis McDonald, Sr.; her parents, Felix, Sr. and Philomena Bordelon Chelette; a granddaughter, Amy McDonald Guillory; and her siblings, Claudia Johnson, Beatrice Hicks, Carrie Moreau, Julia Polotzola, Leonard Chelette, J.D. Chelette, Felix Chelette, Jr., Clayton "Sonny" Chelette and Roy Chelette.
Survivors include her children; Hansen McDonald of Cottonport, Jackie M. Lemoine and husband Penn of Mansura and Curtis J. "Boo" McDonald, Jr. of Bunkie; her grandchildren, Brian McDonald, Monica Desselle, Amanda Plauche, Gina Juneau and Miles McDonald; great-grandchildren, Brittany, Briana, Lucas, Hunter, Eryn, Zachary, Christian, Brayden, Jacob, Kinley and Hudson; 7 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will include: Lucas Deshautelle, Zachary Plauche, Brian McDonald, Hayden Longino, Brayden Juneau and Miles McDonald.
Friends may visit on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. with a rosary recited at 10:30 at Hixson-Ducote FuneralHome of Bunkie.
