Helen Anna Granmoe, age 105 of Glendive, Montana passed away on Friday, July 4, 2025 at the Heritage Assisted Living in Glendive. Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at the Silha Funeral Home in Glendive. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glendive with Father Francis Schreiber officiating. Rite of Committal will be in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Helen was born on Jan. 25, 1920 in Glendive, a daughter of Patrick W. and Jane (Daly) McGovern.
Helen was raised and educated in Dawson County attending rural Valley View country school and graduated from Dawson County High School with the class of 1938. Following graduation Helen worked her way through college earning her Teacher's Certificate from Western Montana College in Dillon and taught in rural Dawson County schools.
She met George Granmoe and they were married in July 1941. They became established in farming in the Lindsay area until 1961 when they moved to Glendive. George became the operator of the Glendive Livestock Sales Co. where he was active in until the time of his death in 1991.
Helen moved to the Meadowlark apartments in 2008. She was a dedicated homemaker involved in her family activities. Attending the Grandchildren's sporting events was important for her. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and daily walks.
Helen volunteered countless hours in the Glendive School system and GMC Extended Care. She was a member of Altar Society, Sacred Heart Quilters, Sacred Heart Choir, Catholic Daughters, Lindsay Homemakers, GMC Hospital Auxillary, and Women of the Moose.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; Jane and Pat McGovern, her husband, George, in 1991, brother Gerald McGovern, and sisters; Lucille Schneider, Grace Berberet, Ruth Ekland, Elaine Roos, and Mary Slagsvold. She was also preceded in death by Granddaughter, Deidre Edwards.
Survivors of Helen include: Ronnie (Janette) Granmoe; Glendive, Georgia (Gary) Nentwig; Maricopa, AZ, Ray (Lynn) Granmoe; Glendive, Rita (Gary) Edwards; Glendive, Mary (Bob) DeWit; Manhattan, MT, and Fay McKnight; The Woodlands; TX. Helen is survived by 17 Grandchildren, 22 Great grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers; memorials can be given to Glendive Senior Center, Glendive Frontier Museum, and the Dawson College Foundation.
