Helen L. Schuman, 96, of Equinunk, PA, passed away Wednesday morning, September 17, 2025 at her residence. She was born on January 7, 1929, a daughter of the late Robert and Lena L. Gehrig.
Helen and Earl J. Schuman were united in marriage on November 22, 1952.
Helen was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Earl J. Schuman: her parents, Robert and Lena, three brothers, Emil, Robert and George, several brothers and sisters-in law, several nieces and nephews.
Surviving are her sister, Ruth Price, numerous sisters-in law, and several nieces and nephews.
She was an active member of Equinunk United Methodist Church, where she taught both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for numerous years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, serving as the treasurer and a member of the Equinunk Auxiliary. She worked as a postal clerk in the Equinunk Post Office until her retirement.
She enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers and several forms of needlework. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to the news reports and Pennsylvania Polka.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 12-2PM with a memorial service following at 2PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Burial will follow in the Stockport Cemetery, Equinunk, PA.
Donations can be made in Helen's memory to her niece, Audrey Price for donation to the ALS Foundation (Lou Gehrig's Disease) for research.
