Helen Williams, 89, of Pineland, Texas, was called Home by our Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Lufkin. A devoted wife, mother, sister, Mam-Maw, and friend, Helen's life was a reflection of faith, love, and service.
Born on September 16, 1935, in Sabine County to Hamp and Abbie (Harvill) Tompkins, Helen was raised in Geneva and attended school in Hemphill. She was one of eight children and developed early in her years, a love for family, gardening, and cooking. On March 10, 1951, she married her lifelong love, Raymond Williams and together they built a joyful life centered around their children and faith.
Helen found joy in the simple things: cooking meals for her loved ones, tending to her blooming flowers, and sharing coffee and stories on the front porch. Her home was always filled with warmth and laughter. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and love that will be cherished by all who knew her.
A longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pineland, Helen faithfully served in the nursery for many years and was a constant presence in the ministry. Her gentle spirit and kindness touched many lives, both in the church and throughout the community.
She is survived by her children, Sue Faircloth and husband, Terry of Lufkin, Lynn Williams of Pineland, and Joe Williams and wife, Barbara of Lufkin. Grandchildren: Kari Spurgeon and husband, Landon, Kimberly McDaniel and husband, Brett, Chris Williams and wife, Julee, Joey Williams and April Williams. Great-Grandchildren: Ace, Kenzie, Logan, Elly Blair, Nick, Alex, Austin, Donald, Jade, Willow, Jori, Ebin, and Kaden. Brothers: Jimmy and wife, Mary Ann, Tommy and wife, Barbara, Larry Gale and wife, Annette, and Jerry Tompkins and wife, Ruby Jo as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also remembered by close friends who have become family: Cody and Regina McBride and their children, Caleb, Shelby and Kase, and Ms. Dixie Crocker.
Helen is now reunited in Heaven with the love of her life and husband, Raymond; her daughter, Mary; her parents, Hamp and Abbie Tompkins; and siblings: Juanell Beckham, L.H. and Wyman Tompkins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, July 11, 2025, at 10:00 AM at First Baptist Church of Pineland under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
Burial will follow services in Hebron Cemetery. Deacons of First Baptist Church will be serving as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations may be made in her honor to First Baptist Church of Pineland.
Memories and condolences may be shared at starrfuneralhome.com.
The family would also like to express heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate caregivers at Parkwood in the Pines and Affinity Hospice in Lufkin, whose love and support became part of Helen's story and legacy.
