Henry A. Prudhomme, 81, died July 10th, 2025. Born May 30, 1944 to Henry and Ida Prudhomme in Highland Park, Henry graduated from Berkley High School in 1962 and went on to earn two associate degrees from Macomb Community College.
He is survived by his wife, Molly, of 55 years of marriage, his brothers John Prudhomme and David (Debbie) Prudhomme, and predeceased by his sister, Celeste. He is further survived by his children Charles Prudhomme (Lisa), Jill Gorr (Michael); Sarah Emmerling (Michael), and Alex Prudhomme. Henry was loved by 14 grandchildren: Henri, George, Elizabeth, Catherine, Hannah (Brett), Matthew (Kate), Joel, Courtney, Faith (Ralf), Luke, Calvin, Chris, Christian Tyler and Clara. Henry further had the joy of 4 great grandchildren: Brooks, Clark, Wells and Theodore.
Henry served his country with honor in the Air Force during the Vietnam War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He had a distinguished 40-year career as an assistant engineer with GM Truck and Bus in Pontiac then retiring to work 20 years for Camelot Cleaners in Berkley. He was also a dedicated member of Faith Baptist Church and later Highland Park Baptist Church. In both churches he taught Sunday school, bible studies, and served on various boards for many years.
In addition to his professional and community contributions, Henry was an avid golfer and bowler. He found great joy in these activities and developed great friends and connections through them. His love for Detroit sports was unwavering; he was a passionate supporter of the Tigers, Lions, Red Wings, Pistons and the University of Michigan. His enthusiasm for these teams brought many memorable moments and lively discussions to family gatherings.
Above all, Henry loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived a life of devotion. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and inspiring those around him. His legacy of love, service, and dedication will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at Highland Park Baptist Church to honor his life on Saturday August 2, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10 am followed by a service at 11 a.m., with lunch to follow for all guests. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Henry's memory to Highland Park Baptist Church 28600 Lahser Road, Southfield, Michigan 48034
