Herbert Donald Quaite, age 91, of Waxahachie, Texas, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted wife and family, in his beloved hometown. Born on June 6, 1934, in Waxahachie, he was the beloved son of the late Lawerence Peyton and Lorena Person Quaite.

Herbert attended primary school in Waxahachie, Texas and was a graduate of Oaklawn High School. Herbert was a proud veteran, having enlisted in the United States Air Force on June 11, 1952. He served honorably until his discharge in April 1956. Upon returning home, he pursued higher education at Prairie View A&M College of Texas, earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He went on to hold several leadership positions throughout his career and later embraced entrepreneurship, forging his own path as a business owner, following in his parents' footsteps. In one of his businesses, Herbert often sold clothes at discounted prices to members of his community, helping families in financial hardship.

Known for his infectious laughter, storytelling, and sharp wit, Herbert had a comedic spirit and a deep knowledge of the Bible that inspired many. He was well known by adults and children alike in Waxahachie and the surrounding towns. Herbert never met a stranger and was a man that cared deeply for his community, always checking on them to ensure everyone was doing okay. Herbert was also a respected mentor with old school ways that many young men appreciated. He will be missed in and around town.

A lifelong member of Samaria Missionary Baptist Church in Waxahachie, Herbert was deeply rooted in his faith. In his younger years, he sang in the choir and publicly gave his life to Christ. His spiritual journey led him to become an Ordained Deacon, a role he served with dedication and wisdom through the end of his time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Doris Quaite, brother James Peyton Quaite, and his son, Donald Wayne Quaite Sr.

Herbert leaves to cherish his life and memories his devoted wife of 26 years, Dorothy Busby Quaite; grandchildren Donald "DJ" Wayne Quaite, Jr. and Donna Quaite; daughter-in-law Chandra Quaite; niece Yolanda Gail Petty (James); nephew James

"Jimmy" Quaite (Valanda); five great-nieces and nephews; five great-great-nieces and nephews; and a cherished circle of bonus family including: Shenequa Richardson, Desiree Richardson, Vance Richardson, Pastor Cory Busby, eleven bonus-

grandchildren, including Demani Richardson, Mya Sneed, Tia Kelley, and Devin Walker for which he shared a special bond. He will also be remembered by sixteen bonus great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
