Howard Harold Hansell III, of Marlton, NJ, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on July 8, 2025. He was 78 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, Howard was the son of the late Howard and Margaret (née Lacovara) Hansell II. A devoted family man, he was the beloved husband of Bonita Ann "Bonnie" (née Croce) for 53 wonderful years. He was the loving father of Craig Hansell and Pamela Anton, and the cherished Pop Pop of Jackson Anton, who brought him great joy.
Howard will be remembered for his warmth, his quiet strength, and the deep love he had for his family - including his treasured cats. He will be dearly missed by many extended family members, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A hardworking road warrior and dedicated National Sales Manager in the telecommunications industry, he built his career on grit, determination, and integrity. Though his work often took him far from home, he was always back in time for his children's sporting events and never missed a Sunday dinner. Family came first, always.
Each year, he looked forward to the family trip to Cape May and Wildwood, where fresh fish, morning beach walks, and cherished memories were traditions. He relished the simple pleasures-crispy seafood, the salty ocean breeze, and the sound of laughter from those he loved most.
A natural athlete, he shined on the football field and proudly played on the 1963 Roxborough High School Championship team-a memory he carried with pride. A lifelong Eagles fan, he celebrated their highs and weathered their lows, never more joyful than during their two Super Bowl triumphs.
He was a man of common sense and firm beliefs-never shy to speak his mind, always standing tall in his truth. His politics were hard-nosed, his opinions unfiltered, and his voice-booming and bold-left a lasting impression wherever he went.
He had a sweet tooth for candy, a soft spot for Stock's pound cake, and found comfort in a hot cup of Melitta coffee. A cold Molson or a glass of Jim Beam were his companions during barbecues, where he was always at the grill, spatula in hand and stories at the ready.
He was a general of a man-commanding, resilient, and unforgettable. His strength echoed in the halls, in his laughter, in his love. And even as life threw its hardest punches, he stood tall and fought fiercely to the very end. Those who knew him often said, "he had nine lives."
He was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and mentor. But above all, he was a man who lived life fully, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of perseverance, pride, and profound love.
Services for Howard will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Animal Welfare Association in Voorhees, www.awanj.org, or to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
