Howard "Junior" Wallace was born at home on November 22, 1949, in Birch Tree, Missouri, to Howard and Merrell (Brawley) Wallace. He passed away on May 9, 2025, in Willow Springs, Missouri, with his family by his side.
He was married to Estella Mae Smotherman on June 6, 1969, in Barrett, Missouri. To this union three children were born, Rebecca "Becky", Crystal, and Shawn Wallace.
Junior is preceded in death by his daughters, Becky Lynn Halferty, and Crystal Gail Chadwell; his father and mother; son-in-law, John Chadwell; grandson, Zach Halferty; great-granddaughter, Josie Chadwell; sister, Shirley; brothers, James, David, Jerry, and Michael; brothers-in-law, Joe, Bud, Robert, Ronnie, Terry, Alferd, and Butch; sisters-in-law, Carol, Ann, Terri, Tammy and Cynthia "Gopher" Junior's nickname for her; and father-in-law, Glen Smotherman.
He is survived by his wife of the home, Estella, son, Shawn Daniel (Vicki) Wallace; siblings, Joyce Frazier, Janice Smotherman, Brenda Lawson, Angie (Bill) Fisher, Brad (Ina) Wallace, and Kevin (Kristi) Wallace; grandchildren, Destiny (Isaac) Boyd, Aerial Tipton, Hannah, and Justice Chadwell, Anthony (Sophie) Wallace, Kylee Wallace, Ashley Halferty, Tyler and Austen Carr, and Caroline and Elizabeth Boyd; great-grandchildren, Stephen, Dixie, Shaunna, Niria, Drago, Margot, Rylee, Maddie, and Bennie; great-great-grandchild, Raevyn; and many, many nephews and nieces.
Junior worked different jobs over the years, but he really loved being a Winona and Summersville City cop.
He loved going fishing, hunting, especially deer camp, going to the casino, and going out west once a year until his health declined. He was a manager and pitcher of his own softball team and won many trophies over the years. When he had to give it up because of health reasons, he would watch it on television. He loved to play jokes on everyone. But we think his favorite was when all the family and friends got together for a reunion or fireworks at his house.
His passing left a big emptiness in our hearts, but we will find peace in knowing he's not in pain anymore.
A family-guided memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Birch Tree, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
