Irene Eischeid, 95 of Carroll and formerly of Halbur, died early Monday morning, July 7, 2025 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll surrounded by her family.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Halbur. The Celebrant will be Father Merlin Schrad and Father Terry Roder will Concelebrate. Music is by Julie Sibbel, St. Augustine's Choir and Monica Eischeid as soloist. The Lector will be Gene Langel. Irene's granddaughters will serve as Gift Bearers. Julie Eischeid will be the Eucharistic Minister. Casket Bearers will be Trevor Theulen, Jason Eischeid, Justin Hoffman, Nic Eischeid, Blake Eischeid, and Michael Cory. The Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas will form an honor guard for the Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. Augustine Cemetery in Halbur.
A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll with a rosary at 7 p.m. by the Carroll Catholic Daughters of the Americas. The casket will be moved to St. Augustine Church on Tuesday morning where additional visitation will be from 9:30-10:15 a.m. Memorials may be left at the funeral home or the church for a later designation.

Irene, daughter of Adolph and Gladys (Reinart) Langel, was born January 31, 1930, on the farm near Templeton, Iowa. She attended Sacred Heart School and graduated as valedictorian. Irene then worked in the Templeton Bank.
On June 3, 1952, Irene was united in marriage with Louis Eischeid. While Louis was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base, Irene worked in a bank in Las Vegas. The family then returned to Iowa and settled on a farm near Halbur.
Irene was a longtime member of St. Augustine's Church in Halbur. She was active in the St Augustine Guild and Church Choir, and was 70-year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed volunteering, especially with the St. Anthony Hospital Auxiliary, RSVP, and the Halbur Community Development Corporation.
Irene was a dedicated homemaker and helped with work on the farm. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family, playing cards and traveling. She loved to listen to Daniel O'Donnell, watching Lawrence Welk and her favorite place to travel was Branson, Missouri.
Irene is survived by eight children: Joyce (Gene) Wessling of Carroll; Scott (JoAnn) Eischeid of Roscoe, Illinois; Al (Lisa) Eischeid of Halbur; Steve (Joleen) Eischeid of Breda; Cheri (Randy) Theulen of Halbur; Sue (Mark) Hoffman of Carroll; Mary (David) Cory of Ames and Jean (Jim) Eischeid of Carroll; 25 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and one on the way; her brothers Vern (Delores) Langel, Denny (Jan) Langel, Gene (Tricia) Langel Wayne (Janet) Langel; her brother-in-law Jim (Carolyn) Schoenherr; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives.
Besides her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband Louis; her stepmother, Evelyn Langel; grandparents Mary and Pete Reinart & Clem and Anna Langel; sisters Marilyn Langel and Lois Schoenherr; a brother Merle (Theresa) Langel; Louis' parents Theo and Anna Eischeid; and many other in-laws.
