Irene Mae Feikema, age 100, was born on November 3, 1924 in rural Lismore, Minnesota to Henry and Mary (Bolluyt) Schaap. She was a lifelong member of Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota, Minnesota. Irene's faith in God was the cornerstone of her life.

Irene attended country schools and graduated in 1944 as salutatorian of her class from Chandler High School. Later, she studied at Nettelton Commercial College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and worked for three and a half years as a bookkeeper at Sioux Valley Hospital. While living in Sioux Falls, she met Frank Feikema at the Christian Reformed Church, where they both attended. They were married on November 26, 1948 at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Leota and together they moved to a farm east of town. The couple was blessed with four children: John Brent, Mary, Milo and Colin.

Irene enjoyed gardening, baking, reading and most of all, spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and making the house a home for her husband and children. Her life was marked by a deep love for her family and the family of God.

Irene died on Monday, July 21, 2025 at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Minnesota surrounded by her family.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Jean Schaap. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; her parents; her sister, Frieda (Marv) Rispens; her brothers, Howard and Milton Schaap; and her son-in-law, Doug Vander Woude.
