Irene Van Lieu Kuhl, age 82 years, of Media, PA, went home to her Lord on July 18, 2025, at Granite Farms Estates, Media, PA, where she had resided for the past eight years. She was surrounded by family concluding a long battle with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body Dementia.
Born in Frenchtown, NJ, January 13, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Oscar H. and Margaret Kaim Van Lieu and grew up on the family farm on the Back Brook in East Amwell Township and in 1954, the family moved to a farm at Voorhees Corner in Raritan Township. Irene had resided all her life in Hunterdon County before moving to Media from Delaware Township NJ.
She was a graduate of Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ and retired from the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. She was an accomplished baker, cook, and enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting, and crocheting. Irene passed on her love and skills of these to many people.
Irene was a longtime member of the Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church of Ringoes, NJ, where she also sang in the choir for decades and volunteered for Vacation Bible School for many years. She was a long-time member of the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery Association, serving as superintendent and treasurer for many years.
She was pre-deceased by her husband of 56 years, Frederick, as well as her sister, Thelma Van Lieu and her twin sister, Nancy Cramer.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Arthur Kuhl (Kim) of Wilmington, DE; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Aber (Chris) of Richlandtown, PA; Kimberly Lamp (Wayne) of Mohnton, PA, sisters, Jean Leichte (Gus) of Black Mt. NC; Kathy Smith (Mitch) of Chambersburg, PA; Pam Bordner (Steve) of Millersville PA; brothers, Richard Van Lieu (Carol) of Grant, NE; Tom Van Lieu (Brenda) of Fredericksburg, PA, brother-in-law, Robert F. Cramer of Tinton Falls, NJ; and sister-in-law, Salliann (Kuhl) Prall of Flemington NJ, as well as eleven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Kirkpatrick Memorial Presbyterian Church, Ringoes, NJ. Interment in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Reaville, NJ, will follow under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home. Calling hours will be from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM preceding the service, with a reception at the church following the interment at the cemetery. All are invited to attend.
