J. Willard Gibbens was born in Neosho, Missouri, on March 2, 1951. He was the son of John Wesley Gibbens and Helen Gibbens.

He departed this life on July 26, 2025, in Caruthersville, Missouri. He was 74 years old.

J.W. was a man that was always thinking about what to do next. He was very inventive and curious about things. He was a man that stated his thoughts and opinions and stood with them.

He is survived by six children: James Gibbens, Wesley Gibbens, Jessica Gibbens, John Gibbens, Chris Gibbens, and Elizabeth Ackman; three siblings: Mary, Valerie, and Joe; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.

Funeral services will he held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. in the H.S. Smith Funeral Chapel. Interment to follow in Maple Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m.
