Obituary

Jaavier "Spongy" Brayboy, son of Robin Brayboy and the late David Brayboy, was born September 4, 2002 in Florence, SC.
He received his formal education in the public schools of Florence County School District III. He graduated from Lake City High School where he played baseball and football. He was also a prominent member of the Olanta Outsiders Baseball team. He was employed by Honda in Timmonsville, SC. His life was measured by the love for his family and friends.
"Spongy"
as he was affectionately called, was a devoted son, brother,
uncle, and friend.
On Sunday, July 7, 2024, God sent his angel to quietly usher home the soul of Javier "Spongy" Brayboy at McLeod Hospital in Florence, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Brayboy; grandmother, Lottie Brayboy; great grandmother,
Elizabeth
Singletary; step-
grandfather, Tracy Oliver; and great grandfather, Matt Singletary.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories: his loving mother, Robin Brayboy James Hickson) of the home; six loving brothers: Davin Brayboy of the home, Tevin (Makayla) of Scranton, SC, Raquelle (Britney) Brayboy of Rockhill, SC, Stephon (Dana) Brayboy of Fayetteville, NG, Malik (Days Yannic) Brayboy of Florence, SC, David (Cassondra) Brayboy, of Fayetteville, NC; a loving grandmother, Patricia (Larry) Oliver of Turbeville, SC; a grandfather, James McDowell of New York; four aunts: Dawn (Marvin) Green of Sumter SC, Keshia (Rashawn) Blanding of Richmond, Virginia, Lois and Margaret Brayboy both of Winston Salem, NC; six uncles: Ricky (Angel) Singletary of Kingstree, SC, Joseph (Gloria) McElveen of Turbeville, SC, Willie James Atkinson and Willie Burgess both of Lumberton, NC, Ronnie Brown of Lake City, and Woody Singletary of NC; six great aunts: Carial (Jimmy) Gilbert of Olanta, SC, Penny (Lorell) Fleming of Gable, SC, Queen Esther Singletary of Tampa, FL, Mary McFadden, Betty Ann McDowell, Sandra Singletary; three great uncles: Johnny (Regina) McCray of Scranton, SC, Fred (Nikki) McCray of Olanta, SC and Jerome McDowell; Two goddaughters: London McKenzie of Florence, SC and Trinity Hickson of Lake City, SC; special friends: Shaquan Epps, 'Teondre Epps, Denzell McKenzie, Keshawn Singletary, Jaheim Herring, Tyrik Wilson, and Alfonso Graham; Godparents, Gerrod (Shannon) Epps of Olanta, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
