Jack Brown of College Hills, Illinois, passed peacefully on June 23, 2025, at Alton Hospital. He joined his wife, Barbara Brown, of 53 years who passed earlier this year.
Jack and Barbara raised two sons, Don (Crystal) Brown and Jeff (Trish) Brown. Jack has two beautiful daughters, Rita and Robin, both of which live in California. Jack leaves behind his sister, Doris Brown (AD) of Glen Carbon, Illinois, and Al Ledbetter, Jr. (Kay) of Liberty Township Ohio. He was preceded in death by his Mother, Ruby Ledbetter, and Father, Al Ledbetter, both of Madison, Illinois, as well as five brothers.
Jack attended Madison High School and was a veteran of the US Navy. He was Manager of Maintenance for United Airlines in San Francisco and retired from Allied Fueling at St. Louis Airport.
Anyone who knew Jack quickly realized that old cars were his passion-a joy he shared with his sons. In his later years, his cats were what made him smile. Brother, Al Jr., recalls a funny story about Jack and his brother, Garland. As teens, unbeknownst to their Dad, they were restoring an old salvage airplane. Their pilot dreams were foiled when their Dad heard of their plan to fly the plane near a large vacant field and under the McKinley bridge.
Rest in Peace, Jack.
