Jackie Leines, 86, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, went home to our Heavenly Father on July 6, 2025
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bagley, Minnesota with Father JohnMelkie Suvakeen presiding. A visitation will be held one hour prior and a luncheon to follow. Interment will be at the Faaberg Lutheran Cemetery, Rindal, Minnesota. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
Jacquelin (Johnson) Leines was born September 5, 1938 in White Earth, MN to parents Leona (Scott) Portz and Vernon Portz. She was the third of three children. At the age of six months she became the child of William Johnson and Rose (Scott) Johnson and was legally adopted at the age of seven years old.
Jackie attended elementary school in St. Paul, MN. She attended Mechanic Arts High School in St. Paul, MN for three years and graduated from Mahnomen High School in Mahnomen, MN in 1956.
Jackie was united in marriage to LeRoy Bennet Leines on November 2, 1956 in Webster City, South Dakota. To their union were born five children: Keith William Leines, James Bennet Leines, Rebecca Lynn (Leines) Huls, Charlene Louise Leines and Leah Rose (Leines) Alder.
She and her family resided in the Bejou/Winger area until 1958 and then moved to Bagley, MN where they made their home for over 62 years.
Jackie was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Past President of the Bagley American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 16, served as president of the local WIBC Ladies Bowling Association and bowled for over 25 years.
Over the years she was employed at the Clearwater County Court House in the Register of Deeds Office and at the Bagley High School as a study hall supervisor. In 1979, she began her career at Clearwater-Polk Electric where she retired in 2005 after 26 years.
Jackie enjoyed being with her family, especially her husband and grandchildren, who gave her great joy and of whom she was especially proud. She enjoyed working with her flowers, baking, knitting, reading and bowling.
She is survived by her children: Keith (DeeAnn) Leines, Red Lake Falls, MN; James (Sandy) Leines, Duluth, MN; Rebecca (Robert) Huls, Bemidji, MN; Charlene Leines, Bemidji, MN; Leah (Daniel) Alder, Audubon, MN. Nine grandchildren: Nichole (Christopher) Beauchane, Aaron (Carly) Huls, Ashley (Cary) Lewis, Stephanie (Justin) Hanley, Lindsay Gray, Patrick (Ashley) Leines, Chelsea (Jon Gaida) Gray, Katlin (Timothy) Schaefer and Tristan Larson, and 21 Great-Grandchildren and two more on the way.
She is preceded in death by her husband LeRoy (December 30, 2012), parents William Johnson, Rose Johnson Nelson, paternal parents Leona (Portz) Hoff and Vernon Portz, sister Joan Wichern and brother Gerald Portz.
