Mrs. Edna Mathnalene (Kirby) Ross, 77, of 109 Granite Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 13, 2025 in Chesnee, SC. Born in Gaffney, she was the widow of the late Mr. Preston Ross and daughter of the late James Arthur Kirby and Sadie Jefferies Kirby.
Mrs. Ross was a graduate of Granard High School, class of 1966. She attended Denmark Tech and Friendship College, Rock Hill, SC. She was a member of Concord Baptist Church. Mrs. Ross was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Most importantly, she was deeply passionate about her family. Devoted to her childhood sweetheart, they were married for over 50 years, she adored her daughters and grandchildren. She will be missed
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her brother, Allen Kirby; two sisters, Mary Kirby and Hattie Kirby; a niece reared like a daughter, Shawnta Kirby Lynch; and a godson, Tracy Littlejohn.
She leaves to cherish loving memories: two daughters, Mrs. Prestina Cromwell (Bryant) of Chesnee and Ms. Sheri Ross of Gaffney; two grandsons reared in the home, Daryn and Omarion Ross; two granddaughters, Madyah and Nyla Cromwell; two brothers, Dr. George Kirby Sr. (Janie) of Blacksburg and William T. Kirby of Chesnee; sisters, Paula Kirby, Luticia Rodgers, Annie Kirby, all of Gaffney, and Anita Greene (Zach); a god son, Scottie Littlejohn (Tennille) of Anderson and Vernon Kirby (Sandra) of Jasper, TN; brother-in-law, James Ross (Elizabeth) of Shelby, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 21st at 1:00 PM at Concord Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12 PM until 8 PM daily at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Bryant and Prestina Cromwell, 223 Sweetgrass Dr., Chesnee, SC.
