James Barrett Obituary

James "Clyde" Barrett, age 84, of Pryor, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Covenant Care in Salina, Oklahoma. Clyde was born on March 17, 1941, in Parker, Kansas, to James Barrett and Margaret Destia (McCammon) Barrett. On September 9, 1961, he married the love of his life, Frances Jean Barrett, in Gravette, Arkansas. Their union was a true testament to love and commitment, lasting over six decades. Clyde devoted 22 years of service to the Grand River Dam Authority, where he retired as a Senior Control Room Operator. Known for his strong work ethic and dedication, he was well-respected by his colleagues and community alike. A man of many passions, Clyde enjoyed spending time outdoors-whether it was hunting, fishing, or exploring garage sales. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to "piddle," always finding joy in the simple things. Above all, Clyde had a special place in his heart for children. He was deeply cherished by his grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and every young soul lucky enough to know him. He will be dearly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Barrett; his sister, Dorothy Hudson; two brothers, Leroy Barrett and Bill Barrett; his mother, Destia Barrett; his father, Jim Barrett.
Clyde is survived by his daughter, Belinda Jean O'Canas and husband, John of Pryor, Oklahoma; his son, Gerald Barrett and wife, Kathy of Rose, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Robert O'Canas and wife, Lisa of Pryor, Oklahoma, Craig Blanton and wife, Gena of Asbury, Missouri, and Scott Blanton and wife, Crystal of Joplin, Missouri; five great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Ramirez of Gravette, Arkansas, and Donna Anderson and husband, Donnie of Gravette, Arkansas; one brother, Loyd Barrett of Gravette, Arkansas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his "pups' from GRDA.
A visitation is scheduled from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Wasson Funeral Home. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Wasson Funeral Home with a committal service to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Gravette, Arkansas.
