James C. Brown 82 of Kent passed away on Saturday, August 9, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 9, 1943 in Ravenna, Ohio to Lester C. and Freda (Baker) Brown. James was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Stow American Legion and VFW and had retired from Kent State University, where he was a custodian. Survivors include his wife Angela (Battaglia), children Christine M. Grace, James A. (Lindsay) Brown and Kathleen (Jeremy) Langman, grandchildren Drew, Dillon, Gracie, Ava, Hayden and Arabella, stepgrandchildren Joseph, Trisjin and Brady and siblings Debbie A. Kern, John M. (Debbie) Brown, Roger E. Brown and Mike C. Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Sharon L. Brown, William (Ramona) Brown, Edgar Brown, Lester Carl Brown and Larry Brown. Calling hours will be from 5 to 7 PM Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at Shorts Spicer Crislip Funeral Home Ravenna Chapel. Funeral services with military honors will be held at 11 AM Thursday, August 14, 2025 at the funeral home with Jeff Kegg officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Special thanks goes to the visiting angels, Lexi, Bobby, Lindsay. Serenity hospice Winnie (the Pooh as Jim called her) and Beth. In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to D.A.V., Wounded Warrior or St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital. Condolences and memories of James may be shared at www.sscfuneralhomes.com.
