Funeral Services for Mr. James Perry Carroll, age 80 of Ashland, will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Mike Waldrep officiating. Burial will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Carroll passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at his home. He was born in Clay County and attended Lineville High School. He worked in trucking most of his life along with the Alabama state road department. He retired from Vulcan Materials in Eastaboga in 2024. He has always had a love of the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, hunting, NASCAR, traveling, his western movies, and spending time in the mountains of Tennessee. He experienced several hunting trips out west. Mr. Carroll's favorite activity has spending time with his grandkids.
He is survived by his children: Brooke Spurlin (Jason), Donna Barrett (Randy), Dawn Carroll, and Jason Carroll; Grandchildren: Drake Spurlin, Hannah Spurlin, Canaan Spurlin, Kaitlin Barrett, Jake Barrett, Destyni Bailey, Luke Carroll, Jacob Boos, Luke Carroll, and Rachel Carroll; plus several nieces and nephews, and lots of extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Carroll, and his parents: Lewis and Annie Carroll.
Pallbearers will be Drake Spurlin, Al McMath, Joel McMath, Jared Robertson, Sonny Carroll, and Micah Smith.
His visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland, beginning at 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Clay County Christian Academy, 37993 Hwy 77, Ashland, AL 36251.
