James Marshall “Jamie” Cheek, 59, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, died Thursday, February 27, 2025 at his residence in Columbia.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home with Kevin Varnado and Reverend Jeff Kane officiating. The family will visit with friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home. Online condolences may be extended at www.oakesandnichols.com.

Jamie was born on January 11, 1966 in Columbia, TN to Barbara Ann Howell Cheek and the late William Larry Cheek. He graduated from Columbia Central High School in 1984 and afterwards trained and worked in the interior design field for several years. For many years he was a waiter/server for Sperry’s Restaurant and most recently River Terrace where he was a much loved host. Jamie loved his pets, reading books, classic movies, interior decorating, and especially being amongst his family and friends.
Survivors include his mother Barbara Ann Howell Cheek of Columbia; step-mother, Kaye Lovell Cheek of Columbia; sisters, Susan Cheek of Thompson’s Station and Rhonda (Bryan) Baker of Columbia; brothers, Bill Cheek of Columbia, Mike (Suzi) Cheek of Thompson’s Station, and Chevy (Susan) White of Columbia; uncles, Hubert Cheek, Myron Cheek, and Don Cheek; aunts, Elizabeth Cummings, Debbie (Bill) Saxman, and Doris Howell; nieces and nephews, Kristin (Jason) Haislip, Cole (Marissa) Cheek, Paige (Nick) Janowicz, Natalie Cheek, Austin Reed, Madison Reed, Megan Allen, Brilee White, and Addison White; several great nieces and nephews, Henry and Charlotte Janowicz, Nylie & Jasiah Haislip; and many additional family and friends that he loved dearly amongst them Todd Halford, Pam and Joe Steward, Ken Loveless, David Sproul, Murray Devore, Missy Bolenbaugh and Eve Hardison and so many more to mention. Jamie truly loved and appreciated all of his friendships that he had acquired during his life.
Honorary pallbearers will be Elizabeth Landry and the staff of River Terrace Restaurant.
