James "Pooh" Collins, 73, of Vickery, Ohio, passed away on July 2, 2025 at the University Hospital, Cleveland following a lengthy illness. Born on July 1, 1952, in Prestonsburg, KY, Pooh was known for his wit, intelligence, generosity, and reliability. A retired machine operator, he dedicated much of his life to the lime plant at Redland Quarry in Woodville, Ohio, where he served as a union representative before retiring in 2005.
Pooh was an avid outdoorsman who loved to travel and camp. He was passionate about gardening, working on classic cars, and attending car shows. He thoroughly enjoyed watching Rhyder play sports, joking around with Lacey, playing with Ace, and watching his son-in-law, Jason, race. However, what mattered most to James was his family, especially his beloved grandchildren. He also loved to take his little dog, Penny, to the parks to run. His heartwarming generosity and reliable nature left a lasting impact on everyone he met.
Pooh is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Maxine Collins of Vickery, Ohio; his daughters Amanda (Jason) Dockery of Dungannon, Va, Mindy (Justan Sibley) Collins of Sandusky, Ohio, and Laura Collins of Sandusky, Ohio; his stepchildren Laurie (James) Glenn, Cam (Sandy) Banks, Tresa (Rodney) Morgan, and Jason (Laurie) Banks; and his special friend Jack Russell. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rhyder Sibley, Lacey Collins, and Ace Collins and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. Pooh was preceded in death by his parents, Rastus and Reva Collins, his granddaughter Ava Collins, his brothers Larry "Buster" Collins, Robert "Nicki" Collins, Jett "Bud" Collins, and Kenneth "Kenny" Collins, his sisters Rosemary Collins and Kathy Russell, and best friend Don Huffman.
Visitation will be held 2pm, Saturday, July 12, 2025 until Memorial Service at 4pm in the Auxter-Recker Funeral Home, 218 South Main Street, Clyde, Ohio. A celebration of Pooh's life will follow at the American Legion Post 83, 3615 Hayes Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio, 44870. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Clyde, Ohio.
We encourage all who knew and loved Pooh to leave memories and upload photos to his memorial page. His life was a testament to the power of love, generosity, and reliability, and his memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

So sorry for the family´s loss. He was my 1st cousin. His mother was my Dads sister. I hadn´t seen Pooh since we were very young. He and I are the same age. He looks so much like his Mom! Praying for Peace and comfort during this sad time.
