James Collins Obituary

James Porter Collins, affectionately known as Jim to his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on the 16th of October 2025, in Anderson, Missouri. Born on March 14, 1947, in Wichita, Kansas, Jim's journey through life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, a steadfast work ethic, and an infectious zest for life that touched everyone he met. He was a dedicated Christian and loved the Lord.

Jim was the beloved son of the late J.P. and Mary (Byars) Collins, and though he was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, his legacy continues through his cherished family. He found his soulmate in Sherry Ann McKay, and they were united in matrimony on a wintery December day in 1982, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Their love and companionship stood the test of time.

His loving spirit lives on through his daughter, Tammy Kay Berry of Clinton, Missouri, and stepdaughter, Amy Dawn Williamson of Edmond, Oklahoma. Jim was a proud grandfather to six grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to several great-grandchildren. Each of them brought immense joy to his life, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Jim's professional life was as diverse as it was distinguished. He was a dedicated employee at Woodward and Sons in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where his hard work and reliability were well-known and respected. His dedication to community service was evident through his time with the Elk River Ambulance service in Anderson, Missouri. However, it was his time as an over-the-road truck driver that many will remember. The open road was not just a job for Jim; it was a calling. He loved the freedom it afforded him and the countless friendships he forged along the way.

Jim's absence will be profoundly felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His laughter, his wisdom, and his unwavering support were the cornerstones of his character. He was a man who took great pride in his work, who adored his family, and who could always be counted on, no matter the circumstance. Jim's story does not end here, for his spirit will continue to guide and inspire us through the memories we hold dear and the love he instilled in our hearts. Rest in peace, dear Jim, until we meet again.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 24, 2025, in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. with Pastor Fred Mills officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the funeral home. Graveside Committal Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday at the Mineral Springs Cemetery in West Fork, AR.
