James DeWitt Dalton, age 73, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on Sunday, July 6th, 2025. He was born in Commerce, TX on July 8th, 1951, to his beloved parents Hershell DeWitt and Dorothy Jean Dalton.
His parents traveled following the harvest, so James Dalton and his brothers and sister got to see a lot of the countryside working alongside their parents in the fields. They picked fruits and vegetables as young kids.
As he grew up working state to state, James Dalton came to Lubbock, TX to help with the Tornado devastation that happened in 1970. That is where he met the love of his life Connie Romo/Garza-Dalton. They married in December later that year and in 1972 they settled in the Oklahoma City area. They had three boys James Jr, Jessie, and Robert. James loved his sons with his whole heart and was always there for them. James was a paint and body man for several years and had several body shops, following in the footsteps of his father.
He was a loving and caring son, husband, father, grandpa, and friend to all. He enjoyed working on restoring his truck and muscle cars, listening to the oldies, taking care of his lawn and tomato plants, family vacations and cooking out, watching his western movies, volunteering at the Dream Center and most importantly spending time with his family. Family was everything to him. He is fondly remembered by those who knew him as funny, cracking jokes, driving his wife Connie crazy, he had a big heart and will be greatly missed.
James is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, sister Janice, brothers Allen and Hershell Dalton. He is survived by his brothers Roger, Henry wife Tonya, and Steve Dalton. His wife of 54 years, Connie: Children: James Jr, Jessie, and Robert. 4 grandchildren Kindall Smith, Castor, Jessie and Little Robert Dalton as well as 2 great grandchildren: Jersey and Slade Smith and other loved ones and friends.
