James William "Bill" Hendrickson, age 89, of Poplar Bluff, MO, died Thursday, July 3, 2025 at Cedar Gate Healthcare, in Poplar Bluff, MO. Bill Hendrickson was born September 18, 1935 in Poplar Bluff, MO, son of the late Walter C. and Edna Hendrickson (Jones).
He honorably retired from the United States Navy after over 20 years of service. He proudly achieved the rank of Chief Boiler Technician (BTC) and was a veteran of the Vietnam war. Following his military service, Bill and his wife owned and operated K&H Real Estate in Poplar Bluff. Bill enjoyed playing guitar, singing country music and entertaining while playing in several bands He was actively involved in the community while being a member of the Elks, Eagles, American Legion, AMVETS and VFW. He was also a longtime member of the Shriners. He loved traveling with family and friends, and especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
On May 21, 1964 he married Edna Ethridge Hendrickson. She preceded him in death on September 16, 2022. He is survived by two children: Kim (Kevin) Forsythe of Williamsville, MO, and Bill (Shelia) Hendrickson of St. Louis, MO; six grandchildren: Cyndi (Chris) Thomas, Jordan (Annette), Dalton (Cheyenne), and Caleb Forsythe, Casey and Ally Hendrickson; eight great-grandchildren: Charlie, Ceyton, Lydia, Megan, Cyan, Norah, Owen, and Avi; and one brother: Donald (Sue) Hendrickson of Poplar Bluff, MO.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was also preceded in death by two brothers: Walter Hendrickson, Jr. and Robert Hendrickson; and two sisters: Myrl Hastings and Melba Jean McCoy.
Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Monday, July 7, 2025 at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. Funeral services will follow at 5:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome
