James Elmer Langheim, 63, of Monticello, IL, passed away on Monday, June 9, 2025, at his residence in Monticello, IL.
James was born December 17, 1961, in Springfield, IL, a son of Aloysius Elmer and Mary Catherine (Norris) Langheim. James graduated from Tri-City High School with the class of 1980. James was employed at the Urbana-Champaign Sanitary District for approximately 41 years. He loved his job and was passionate about what he did.
James loved his two kids, Zach and Kelsie,with all his heart. He thought the world of both and enjoyed getting to spend time with them. James loved his entire family, and treasured visiting with them as often as he could. He was thankful for his family and was proud to be a Langheim.
James also loved his dogs, two yorkies, Rudy (2017) and Ringo. Some of James' fondest memories included taking Rudy and Ringo for walks as well as sitting with them outside on his deck, listening to music and watching the sun set during the summer months.
James was an avid outdoorsman; he loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed getting to spend time with his lifelong friends each year on a fishing trip to Kentucky Lake. James loved sports; he was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. He loved the Chicago Bears and Illini baseball, football, and basketball. One of James' favorite sporting moments was getting to see the Chicago Cubs win the world series in 2016.
James was preceded in death by mother, father, and stepmom, Deanna Langheim,sister, Barbara J. Pierson-Compton, and brother, David Langheim.
James is survived by his son, Zach (Julie) Langheim of Champaign, IL, daughter, Kelsie (Brandon) Frooman of Bloomington, IL, sister, Mary Cadigan of Sherman, IL, sister, Rose (Rolin) Carr of Springfield, IL, step-sister, Elizabeth (Greg) DeFevers of AZ, step-sister, Connie (Paul) Avallone of OR.
A private mass and burial will be held for James' immediate family.
