James W. "Buster" Parker, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2025.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Shady Grove Baptist Church, Lee Street, Acworth, Georgia, with Rev. Michael McPherson and Rev. Thomas Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sosebee Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2nd from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Mr. Parker will lie-in-state at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pat Steele; parents, Herman and Annie Parker; siblings, Rachel Collins, Earl Parker, Wesley Parker, Gerald Parker, Hershel Parker and Herbert Dupree; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Ledford.
Buster is survived by his wife of 70 years, Shirley Parker; sons, Tony Parker (Beverly) and James Parker (Bridget); grandchildren, Beth Summerfield (Tim), Stephen Steele, Kaylie Burleson (Mark) and Alicia Parker; great-grandchildren, Madison Summerfield, Spencer Burleson and Simon Burleson; son-in-law, Steve Steele; sisters, Sarah Gayton and Shirley Ledford; sisters-in-law, Barbara Parker and Rita Parker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Summerfield, Matthew Shaw, Mark Burleson, Chris Iaciofano, Stephen Steele and Randy Waller.
