On July 27th, Jim Peters-"Petey" to those who knew him-took his final rest. A machinist by trade, but had many talents that went beyond metal and machines. Need a birdhouse built, he could do it! Need an engine worked on, he could do it. A jack of all trades, if you will. His hands were calloused, his humor was sharp, and his love for his dogs, Mountain Dew,and Jet's pizza, ran deep. In his younger days he was a heck of a baseball player. Jim was a proud father to four strong, independent daughters: Renee, Jamie, Jackie, and Jerika. He was also a proud and playful Papa Jim to ten grandkids: Karlee, Molly, Brooklyn, Nathan, Emma, Taylor, Lillie, Jase, Madyson, and Noah. Anytime they would get to visit Papa Jim, they could guarantee junk food, a trip to the St..Clair River, homemade ice-cream, and s'mores would be involved. His daughters would like to acknowledge and thank his childhood buddy, Harry, who made the many trips for necessities. A special thank you to Sarah Craft and her family for being his caretakers, even when he was a stubborn old man. You all were dear friends to our Dad. Especially, in the years that mattered most. You didn't have to, but you did. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda and Jackie, brother-in-law, Don, and Son-In-Law, Lance. He is preceded in death by his fiancée, Pat, and his parents, Jack and Barbra Peters. He never cared for formalities. He was more at home in a garage than a banquet hall. His daughters will hold a private celebration of life at a later time. Rest peacefully, Dad.…..We'll let the kids have ice cream for breakfast every now and then.
