James Richard Reese, Jr., 68, Indianapolis, passed away on Monday morning, June 9, 2025, at his residence.
Born July 17, 1956, in Rochester, Indiana, he was the son of James Richard Reese, Sr., and Cora Renfroe Reese. He met his wife, Mila Medina Bendoy, in the Philippines while serving there on a mission trip. They were married on February 12, 1981, and she survives.
Jim graduated from North Miami High School in 1974. He was a devoted follower of Christ and a member of the Church at the Crossing in Indianapolis. He had a wonderful singing voice and for many years sang in a group called The Disciples. He was an amazing woodworker and was a machine operator, working for Queens Group, International Paper and West Rock. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and retired in September 2024. Jim’s favorite hobby was being with his grandchildren, especially if they were playing softball or baseball.
Survivors include his wife, Mila Reese, Indianapolis; three children, Joseph Renfroe (Jennifer) Reese, Indianapolis; James Robert “Bobby” Reese, Ypsilanti, MI; and Jami Rachel (Marcus) Marvin, McCordsville; seven grandchildren, Judah Renfroe Reese, Joseph Rory Aaron Reese, Oliver James Reese, Charlotte Linnea Reese, Madelyn Jo Marvin, Richard Timothy Marvin and Robert David Marvin; parents, Richard “Dick” and Cora Reese, Denver; brother, Jon (Cathy) Reese, Peru; two sisters, Dawn (Mike) Berry, Rochester; and Linda (Tim) Strebin, Goshen; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2025, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana. Burial will follow in Five Corners Cemetery, Macy, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Mt. Vernon Elite Program, a sports league that Jim appreciated because of his grandchildren’s involvement. c/o McClain Funeral Home, PO Box 248, Denver, IN 46926.
