Mr. James Richard "Rick" Thompson, age 64, of 613 Howell Rd., Jonesville, passed away, Friday, June 20, 2025, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home.
Mr. Thompson was born in Union on December 14, 1960, the son of the late Paul H. Thompson and Virginia Moss Thompson. He attended Lockhart High School and retired as a talented residential carpenter. Mr. Thompson was a member of Foster's Chapel Methodist Church. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden.
Surviving is a daughter, Michelle Leigh Thompson of Duncan; a son, James Dillon Thompson and wife Kaylyn of Union; two sisters, Debra Toney Waldron of Spartanburg and Paula Kaye Jones and husband Wade of Jonesville; a brother, Michael R. Thompson and wife Jeanie of Jonesville; three grandchildren, Anna-Lee Thompson, Reginald "A.S" Thompson, and Nayvee Thompson; a special cousin, Brittany Wood Conway; a special uncle, William Moss; his fur babies, Betsy, Lillie, and Pris; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 PM Monday, June 23, 2025, at Foster's Chapel Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Lee Coyle and Shannon Toney Smith. Burial will follow at Union Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Tim Palmer, Brittany Conway, Matt Conway, Reginald Thompson, Brian Wells, Jr., and Kevin Wilburn. The following are asked to sit in a group and form the honorary escort, William Moss, Kenneth Adams, Sam Walker, Wade Jones, Tracy Pardue, and Carl Jennings.
Visitation will be held from 2:15 until 3:15 PM prior to the services in the church fellowship hall.
The family would like to extend their heart-felt gratitude for the love and support shown to Mr. Thompson by Brittany Conway, Tim Palmer, Sam Walker, and the nurses and staff of Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home who helped during the last days.
Memorials may be made to Foster's Chapel Methodist Church, P.O. Box 611, Union, SC 29379 or to Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29302.
