James Mark Williams, born on August 9, 1943, in Savannah, Georgia, peacefully passed away on March 6, 2025, in Dearborn, Michigan. James was known for his dedication and strong work ethic, exemplified during his accomplished career as a supervisor at a steel plant.
He lived a simple but fulfilling life, deeply appreciated by his family and friends. James had a stoic yet loving personality, which endeared him to those who knew him. His passions were varied and rich; he was particularly fond of Oreos, meticulously saving them for his personal enjoyment, and he had an undeniable love for seafood and Mexican cuisine.
An avid baseball fan, James traveled to Cuba in his youth from Key West, playing alongside talented athletes. He remained a devoted supporter of both the Yankees and Tigers, ensuring he never missed a game. In his leisure time, he displayed remarkable talent in bowling, achieving many awards, including several notable 300 games in 9 pin tap.
James is survived by his children: Daniel (the late Shari) Williams, Scott Williams, Michele Williams, and Mark (Patricia) Williams, as well as his stepchildren, whom he accepted as his own, Rena (Scott) Suminski and Wade (Suzette) Crandell. He cherished his role as a grandfather, leaving behind a legacy through his grandchildren: Ashley Hayes (Williams), Dustin Williams, Christopher, Megan, Jessica, Kayla, David, Savannah, Nolan, Brittany, Cody, Hailey, Alyssa, and Ava and 4 great grandchildren.
James is also preceded in death by his parents, Carl James Williams and Fannie Elizabeth Hansen, and his sister Fay Elizabeth Rubia (Williams).
As we remember James Mark Williams, we celebrate the life of a man who embodied hard work, passion, and family devotion. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
