Jane Guinevere Mayer (nee Nelson)
April 1, 1936 - July 2, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane, age 89, on July 2, 2025.
She had been in hospice care at Parks Place in Plymouth, Minnesota.
Jane was born in Red Wing, Minnesota, and graduated from Hopkins High School. In
1956, she married the love of her life, David Mayer of Wayzata. Together, they built a life
filled with love, family, and community.
Jane loved being a homemaker and was known for her exceptional skills in sewing and
needlepoint, and also enjoyed cooking and baking. She was accomplished at calligraphy
and illustration and was always willing to teach her skills to those who were interested.
She was also a dedicated mother who devoted much of her time supporting and
encouraging her children as they grew up. David and her enjoyed dancing - other happy
memories include the family trips to the cabin on Lake Washburn and to various parts of
the U.S. over the years. Her guidance, wisdom, and love will forever remain a cherished
part of their lives.
Jane's family and friends remember her for her kindness, generosity, and the quiet
strength she brought to every situation. Her ability to nurture those around her, combined
with her creativity and warmth, left a lasting impact on all who knew her. She had been
an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Deephaven when her children were
younger and contributed her time to various church activities.
Jane is survived by her beloved husband David, their three children (Susan, Scott and
Jon,) six grandchildren, extended family, and friends who will forever hold her memory
in their hearts. The family would like to extend their thanks and sincere appreciation for
the compassionate care Jane received while living at Parks Place.
A memorial service will be held at the David Lee Funeral Home in Wayzata on Saturday,
July 19th with visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. and a memorial service at 2:00 followed
by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association
through the website donorservices.alz.org
