Janet Ames, a true warrior and strong spirit, was born on January 17, 1947, in Elliott County, Kentucky. Surrounded by the love of her family and the grace of her Christian faith, she embarked on a journey that would leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her. Janet passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, at Marion General Hospital, leaving behind cherished memories and a vibrant tapestry of a life well-lived.

Throughout her years, Janet exemplified the ideals of hard work and dedication, retiring from her career at a phone company. Even after retirement, her passion for fitness shone brightly as she served as a fitness instructor, inspiring many to embrace a healthier lifestyle. Her commitment to her own well-being mirrored her zest for life, as she thrived on staying active and sharing that energy with others.

Janet found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished time spent at home, where she lovingly tended to her garden, nurtured her love for reading, and took care of animals, ensuring they were cared for with the same compassion she extended to everyone around her. She had a penchant for traveling that enriched her world, bringing new experiences and adventures that she would later share with her loved ones.

Janet's pride was not just in her achievements, but in the way she turned her home into a warm and inviting haven, always adding little touches that made everything feel just right. Her devotion to her family was evident in every aspect of her life, particularly in her cherished relationship with her daughter, Kimberly J. (Scott) Harper of Sunbury, Ohio. As a grandmother, her heart found even more joy in her grandchildren, Zacharia S. Harper and Chelsi M. Wilcox (Reece Hooper Jr.), along with two great grandsons, Jason L.J. Blazina and Maximus T. Wilcox, who brightened her days with their laughter and love.

Janet's family was her pride and joy, and she held her mother-in-law, Nancy (Steve) Jurs, and her special niece, Diana L. Curtis, close to her heart as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and ex husband Steven J. Stauch. Her past was marked by those she loved dearly, including her beloved husband, Thomas Ames, with whom she shared 38 years of marriage, as well as her parents, Arthur and Mae (Pennington) Gallion, and her brothers and sisters: Harold, John, Francis Parsley, Doris Jean Cooksey, Helen Caldwell, and Dorothy McKenzie, ex husband Norman Anderson

Janet will be remembered not only for her strength and resilience but for her boundless love and nurturing spirit. Her memory will forever reside in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were touched by her warmth and kindness. As they gather to celebrate her life, they will carry forward the lessons she imparted, her unwavering faith, and the love she so generously gave. Janet Ames, a remarkable woman, leaves us with the enduring reminder to embrace life fully, love unconditionally, and live with strength and grace.

Memorial service will be held at a later date at the Gallion Cemetery in Webbville, KY.
