Janet A. Hanzie, 85, of Rittman, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Rittman

Jan was born on Dec. 3, 1939, in Spencer, OH to Vernon and Amanda (Crabtree) Mantz and after her father's death her mother married Leslie Kaylor who raised Jan. She graduated from Norwayne High School in 1957 and on Aug. 9, 1958, she married Larry L. Hanzie. Larry preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 2023. Jan was the Head of the Dietary Department at the Apostolic Christian Home for 26 years until her retirement and attended the Rittman Apostolic Church. She had been a 4-H advisor for the Milton Shamrocks 4-H club and was a Norwayne Bobcat sports fan. Jan enjoyed traveling the country with Larry and their many friends. She also loved baking, gardening, canning and organizing family gatherings and parties, especially the annual 4th of July party. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she will be forever loved and remembered.

Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and John Deuber of Wadsworth and Kris and Sam Ulery of North Ridgeville; her 8 grandchildren, Jenelle (James) Pamer, Kyler Hanzie, Kassidy Deuber, Jaclyn Deuber, Amanda (Jared) Flewelling, Abigail Ulery, Natalie Ulery and Sam Ulery and 3 great-grandchildren, James lV, Jonah and Joanna Pamer.

In addition to her husband, Jan was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Jeannette Hanzie; her parents and her sister, Virginia Bise.

Services will be Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Rittman Apostolic Christian Church with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be in the Apostolic Church Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, from 4-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston and Saturday from 9:30 -10:15 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Village, 10680 Steiner Rd., Rittman, OH 44270
