Janet Louise Kopriva, passed away on July 2, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on April 13, 1928, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Homer Elarth and Ruth (Chapin) Elarth
Janet's professional journey began after her education at the University of Wyoming, where she honed her skills and knowledge that would later serve her in her role as the owner of Kopriva Hardware and Appliance. Her work was not just a means of livelihood; it was a reflection of her commitment to serving the needs of her fellow community members.
In addition to her business acumen, Janet was an active member of the Catholic Church and participated in Chi Omega Sorority, showcasing her leadership and dedication to both faith and fellowship. Among her many interests, she embraced the exhilarating challenge of bow hunting, a passion that highlighted her adventurous spirit and connection to the outdoors.
Before retiring, Janet fit and sold hearing aids for 16 years. She also was a member of the Powell Fine Arts Club and several Bridge clubs. She enjoyed playing golf and participated in archery shoots with her family. During her retirement years, she traveled extensively, either with Bill before he died, or later with her daughter, Eileen. Trips included Alaska, Australia, Hawaii, China, Panama Canal, and Rome, Italy. Family was always very important, and time spent with them was special for her. Janet loved helping her children play music (usually the Piano) and reading fun things together. After She and Eileen moved to Rocky Mountain Manor in January 2020, Bingo became a favorite pastime for her.
Janet's legacy is carried on by her loving family, including her sons Ron M Kopriva and Mike Kopriva, her daughter Eileen Kopriva, and daughter-in-law Patti Kopriva. She was also a proud grandmother to three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, cherishing the moments she spent with them and imparting her wisdom and kindness along the way.
Janet's proudest accomplishment was her marriage to Bill Kopriva, which began in Billing, Montana, on October 9, 1948. This union was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with fulfillment and companionship that enriched her years.
She is predeceased by her husband Bill Kopriva, her father Homer Elarth, and her mother Ruth Elarth. Janet's absence will be felt profoundly by all who knew and loved her. Her contributions to her family, her career, and her community leave a lasting impression on those who were fortunate enough to be part of her remarkable life.
Services will be held for Janet on Thursday July 17th, 2025 at St Barbara Catholic Church in Powell, Beginning at 10:30 AM.
