Memorial services for Janet Roenfeldt, age 91, of Stanton, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. May 24, 2025, at New England Congregational Church in Stanton. Reverend Scott Frederickson will officiate, with burial in Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Home for Funerals-Stanton is in charge of arrangements.
Janet died Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.
Janet Elizabeth Roenfeldt, daughter of John and Helen (Porter) Hilliges, was born March 14, 1934, on the family farm in Stanton County, Nebraska. Janet grew up in Stanton and graduated from Stanton High School in 1951. She then attended secretarial school.
Janet was united in marriage to Walter "Walt" Roenfeldt on July 3, 1953, at New England Congregational Church in Stanton. She worked as a paralegal for sixty years in Stanton, initially at Grady's Law Offices, which later became Caskey's during her tenure there. Janet loved nature, including feeding and watching birds, and flower gardening. She also enjoyed traveling, Husker games, and was an excellent host of family dinners.
Janet is survived by her brother, Dick (Margaret) Hilliges; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Anders and Clara Severa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walt; and sister, Lois Kingsley.
