Janice Joseph Obituary

Janice Ruth Joseph, 82, of Collinsville, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Born June 17, 1943, in East St. Louis, IL, Janice was a proud graduate of Collinsville High School. She dedicated over 20 years of service as a billing clerk at Anderson Hospital in Maryville before retiring. A woman of deep faith and compassion, Janice was a devoted member of Collinsville First United Methodist Church. Her commitment to service extended far beyond her community-she was a passionate volunteer with the NiCE (Nicaragua Christian Education) Foundation in Highland, IL, participating in several missionary trips to Nicaragua to share her love and support with those in need. Janice was a gifted crafter and tole painter who found joy in expressing her creativity. She also loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing, but nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family-especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larue and Evelyn (née Britt) Meni, and her sister, Carol Gassmann. Janice is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Ardell L. Joseph, whom she married on December 19, 1962; her son, David (Mari) Joseph; daughter, Dawn (Sonny) Knight; grandsons, Joseph Knight, Ryan Knight, and Andrew Joseph; granddaughter, Alexandra Joseph; great-grandson, Hudson Knight; great-granddaughter, Kimberly Nelson; her sister, Billie (Franklin) Simpson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025, at Barry Wilson Funeral Home in Maryville, IL. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Collinsville First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Dala Lawrence officiating. A luncheon will follow immediately at the church. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Keppler Cemetery (St. Joseph's Association) in O'Fallon, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Collinsville First United Methodist Church or BJC Hospice.
