Mrs. Janice L. (Brown) Ramsey, age 86, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on July 14, 1938 in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Clarence Brown, Sr. and Bernice (McKenzie) Brown. She was raised in Vevay, Indiana where she graduated high school. Janice was united in marriage on October 6, 1956 in the Vevay United Methodist Parsonage to John C. "J.C." Ramsey. This happy union of nearly 48 years was blessed with two sons, Alan and Micah. Janice was employed at the US Shoe Factory in Vevay and Osgood for several years. She was later employed as a deputy clerk for the Switzerland County Courthouse. She was a former secretary for Hocker Law Office and for Rosenberger Law Office in Vevay, Indiana for several years. After the passing of her husband, Janice finished out J.C.'s term as the Switzerland County Auditor in 2004. She was a member of the Vevay Assembly Church in Vevay, Indiana. Janice was a former member of the Vevay American Legion Post #185 Ladies Auxiliary. She found joy in painting, watching cooking shows, reading, working on puzzles, and sipping a good cup of coffee. She had a passion for cooking and baking for her family and friends. Janice passed away at 12:50 p.m., Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at her son's residence.
Janice is survived by her son, Micah Ramsey and his wife, Shawnna of Vevay, IN; her grandchildren, Dustin Ricketts and his wife, Kayla, Kyla Ramsey and her husband, Anthony Henderson and Joe Ryan Ricketts of Vevay, IN; her great-grandchildren, Mason, Aubrey and Lilly; her sister, Betty Callahan of Greensburg, IN; her brother, Keith Brown and his wife, Bonnie of Seattle, WA; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Brown Barker of Vevay, IN and Juanita Brown of Westport, IN; her brother-in-law, Skip Bolden of Tallahassee, FL; and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Brown, Sr.; her mother, Bernice (McKenzie) Brown; her husband, John C. "J.C." Ramsey, died April 3, 2004; her son, Alan Jay Ramsey, died August 7, 1978; her sisters, Virginia Burton, Mary Magness, Sandra Faye Lanham, and Lolita Bolden; and her brothers, Charles Everett, Robert L. "Bobby", Clarence, Jr., Kenneth, Glenver "Jack" and Darrell Wayne Brown, Sr.
***DUE TO WEATHER SERVICES CHANGED TO FUNERAL HOME** Graveside Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2025, by Pastor Mike Barnes, at the HASKELL & MORRISON FUNERAL HOME.
