Janice Stripling, also known as “Cissy” passed away peacefully on May 9, 2025, at her residence in Tifton, Georgia. Born on December 12, 1957, Janice's life was characterized by unwavering love for her family and a profound kindness towards all who had the pleasure of knowing her. M
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Aaron Frasier officiating the church service and Rev. Larry Layfield officiating the interment at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:30 before the service at the church.
Her nephews and great nephews, John Stripling, Robbie Thornsberry, Keith Dees, Jim Scott, Cole Christie, Taylor Deneau, Grey Grinstead and Austin Stripling will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be her neighborhood friends.
Janice was currently working part-time with KCI as a contract support consultant. She graduated from Tift County High School in 1975 and lived most of her life in Tift County. She was a loyal member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chula. She had retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation after thirty plus years of service as a Maintenance Management Clerk. Besides working, Janice enjoyed spending time with her neighborhood friends, riding her fur babies around in their golf cart, going on outings with her brother, whether it was to the beach or mountains, visiting family or just going out to eat for the evening. One of her favorite past times was her late afternoon visits with her neighbor, Donna Garrison.
Janice loved her family and was known as the family caretaker. She is survived by her cherished brother, Randy Stripling, who held a deep bond with her throughout their lives. She also leaves behind four nieces and their spouses: Starling and Dr. Robby Thornsberry, Vicki and Keith Dees, Holly and Dr. Jim Scott, Anna and Cole Christie, and her nephew John Stripling and his wife Heather. In addition to her immediate family, Janice will be fondly remembered by her four great-nieces, Victoria Deneau and her husband Taylor, Krystina Dees, Emmy Grinstead and her husband Grey, and Maggie Thornsberry, as well as her great-nephew, Austin Stripling and his wife Diana, great great nephew, Teddy Deneau, her fur babies, Lucy Kay and Chloe and special friend, Jim Nolan.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Ossie and Lucy Milam Stripling, whose values and dedication to family resonated deeply within her. She was also preceded by her sister, Rita Kay Edenfield and her husband, Jim, her brothers Larry and his wife Amelia Stripling, and Ted and his wife Shirley Stripling, along with her sister-in-law Jackie Stripling.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church or Tift County Animal Shelter. Albritton Funeral Directors is in charge of the arrangements.
