Janice Ruth Whitehouse Sweeney passed away peacefully at her home in Calvert City, Ky. on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Clifford "Tip" Sweeney in 2015. Mrs. Sweeney was 87 years old.
Janice was born June 22,1937 in Central City, Ky to Oscar Whitehouse and Lillian Hayes Whitehouse. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Sweeney of Bowling Green, two beautiful daughters, Beth Sweeney and Kathy Sweeney Bradley of Calvert City, a son-in-law, Bobby Bradley, two grandchildren, Cory Jessup and wife Ashley and Kasi Bradley, a beloved great-grandson, Knox Jessup, and her sister, Brenda Whitehouse Cates of Lexington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
She was wife and mother extraordinaire in addition to being employed by Calvert City Insurance, Edwards Real Estate and Mary Kay Cosmetics over the years. She was also a talented artist and one of the wittiest people on the planet, loved by everyone who knew her.
Following Tip's retirement, Janice and family enjoyed a winter home in central Florida before Mr. Sweeney's health began to decline in 2010 and the Sweeney's returned to west Ky. for the remainder of their years.
Visitation will be at Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Ky on Monday, December 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to be followed by a graveside service at the Calvert City Cemetery at 1:30 with the Reverend Jim Capps presiding.
