Jason Boyd Smith, 55, of Tuscaloosa, passed on June 24, 2025, in Tuscaloosa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at Taylorville Baptist Church. Jason was preceded in death by Grandparents, Mamie Cornelius and Martin Lum (Johnny) Clark, Mary Ellen and Boyd Jackson Smith, and Netta Hartley; his Father, Boyd Harold Smith, and the most amazing Stepfather, Ronald Gene Hartley; Aunt and Uncle, Robert and Bonnie Davis, of Tallahassee, FL, as well as his uncle Johnny Robin Clark. He is survived by his mother Bonda Camille "Bootsie" Hartley; sister Kristen Camille Smith; Aunt and Uncle: Gayle Hartley and Perry Turner; cousins: Christopher Spalding Davis (Sue Davis) of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Hardy Davis of Savannah, GA, Marley Davis of Savannah, GA, Forrest Caton (Robert Caton) of Atlanta, GA, Emily Caton of Atlanta, GA and Camille Caton, Atlanta, GA; as well as his long-time and dearly loved "best-friend" and care-giver Ambria Young (his "Gabby").
Biography Jason was born on May 17, 1970, in Ft. Walton Beach, Florida and was welcomed into the world by a large and loving family that doted on him for his entire life! Although Jason had special needs, he delighted the world around him with an uncanny sense of humor, an easy laugh, large and loving hugs, and a great devotion to his parents, sister Kristen, and his beloved grandparents. He was a gentle giant! Jason graduated from the Oak Hill School where he was loved by many. Jason had a love of music and would often entertain his family with a deep baritone rendition of Elvira by the Oak Ridge Boys. Jason enjoyed watching The Price is Right, playing with his Superhero Figurines, and he LOVED fried chicken! The highlight of Jason's days, however, were his special outings with his "best-friend" Ambria, whom he affectionately called "Gabby". Jason will be dearly missed and always held in the hearts of those he has left behind. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Helping Hands Ministries at Taylorville Baptist Church. 7201 Moundville Lane, Tuscaloosa, Alabama 35405.
