Jayne Gilligan Obituary

Jayne Ann Gilligan (Bartelt) entered the presence of her Lord on May 2, 2025 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
She was born to John and Edith Bartelt (Johnsen) on May 9, 1938 in Geneva, Illinois. While growing up on the family farm on Bartelt Road, she attended Peck School, Sixth Street School, and Geneva High School. She was the majorette for the high school band. She attended the First United Methodist Church in Geneva where she was part of the church choir. She often sang solos for special Christmas and Easter services. For several years she was part of the Sweet Adelines musical group. She also played the piano and guitar and wrote songs.
Jayne was married to James John Gilligan on November 5, 1960 at the United Methodist Church in Geneva, Illinois.
Jayne loved her family by spending time with them, singing with them, and teaching them songs that they still sing to this day. Jayne was devoted to her community and town. She worked at NuRock Nursing home, served as an EMT on the Laona Rescue Squad for many years and was one of the original members. Jayne also worked for the town of Laona. She knew the Lord Jesus as her Savior and later in life attended Bethel Baptist Church in Wabeno.
Jayne was the mother of Pam Warden- Mattick, Kary Lynn Bradle, JoDee Sefer Dufek, Joan Elizabeth Peralez (Richard), James Andrew Gilligan (Jessica), grandmother of 15 and great great grandmother of 23 and great, great, great grandmother of 6.
Jayne is survived by her brother Richard Bartelt, sister Judy Connor (Bartelt), many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James, infant son James John Gilligan, grandparents Hans and Jesse (Birnie) Johnsen and John W Bartelt and Rosaline (Alexander) Bartelt, her parents John and Edith Bartelt, brother John Bartelt, granddaughter Angela Dufek, her sons-in-law: Robert Dufek, John Warden, David Bradle, and Paul Mattick, brother-in-law Robert Connor, niece Julie Bartelt O'Brien, and great nephew Staff Sgt. Justus Bartelt.
The family would like to thank Odd Fellows and NuRock Nursing homes and Heartland Hospice for the special loving care they provided.
The funeral will be held on May 13th at 11AM at Bethel Baptist Church in Wabeno, WI. Internment will be at the Laona Cemetery with luncheon to follow at the Laona Community Center.
