John David "JD" Mullins, 70, of Windsor, Missouri died Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri.

On August 17, 1973, JD married his high school sweetheart, Donna Lou Madole. Their loving marriage was filled with devotion, laughter, and partnership until her passing on May 21, 2001. This union brought three children: Amy, Jeff, and Marci. Together, they built a life centered on family, community, and shared passions.

He as born July 22, 1954, in Windsor, the son of Grover Cleo and Joan (Garoutte) Mullins. A proud graduate of Windsor High School in 1972, JD was an athlete who participated in numerous sports. His love of sports remained a cornerstone of his life. He dedicated many years to coaching youth teams and never missed an opportunity to cheer on his children and grandchildren from the sidelines (sometimes maybe too loudly).

JD began his career at Peabody Coal Company, where he worked for several years. In 1979, he and Donna took a leap of faith and purchased Windsor Lanes, a decision that shaped much of his life and legacy. In 2003, JD expanded his passion for bowling by purchasing Meadowlark Lanes in Clinton. Throughout his bowling career, he accomplished the rare feat of bowling over 25 perfect 300 games.

After retiring in 2011, JD continued to serve his community by working part time in the dietary department at Royal Oaks Hospital, a role he genuinely enjoyed. In his free time, he cherished family dinners, found joy in being surrounded by loved ones, and could often be found watching his favorite westerns on television.

JD will be remembered for his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the unwavering support he offered to those he loved. His legacy lives on through the many lives he touched-as a father, grandfather, coach, and friend.

Survivors include three children, Amy Witherspoon (Tracy), Jeff Mullins and Marci Mullins all of Windsor; 6 grandchildren Zachary Berube (Jorja), Cheyenne Berube, Dylan Witherspoon, Dalton Witherspoon, Payton Witherspoon and Carson Witherspoon; a great-grandchild on the way; a brother Gary (Mully) Mullins, Centerview, Mo.; and numerous Madole family members. In addition to his wife, Donna, he was preceded in death by his parents and his father and mother-in-law, Dudley and Arlice Madole.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Laurel Oak Cemetery, Windsor. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, July 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Hadley Funeral Home, Windsor. A memorial has been established for funeral expenses and contributions can be made in care of the funeral home.
