Jean Bass Strapp Obituary
Jean L. Bass Strapp, born on November 9, 1947, in Piqua, Ohio, departed this life on February 27, 2025, at Oakwood Village in Springfield, Ohio. A member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Jean's faith and spirit were integral parts of her life. While Jean was a current resident of Oakwood Village, she was a longtime former resident of McAuley Center.
Jean earned an Associate's Degree from Sinclair Community College and furthered her education by attending Wright State University. Her commitment to learning and personal growth was a testament to her character and passion for knowledge.
Throughout her life, Jean battled Multiple Sclerosis with resilience and grace. Her strength in facing life’s challenges was an inspiration to those around her. Despite these challenges, she found joy in simple pleasures, such as playing bingo, which brought her happiness and connected her with friends and loved ones.
Jean leaves behind her loving family, including her step-son Sean (Teresa) Strapp, her brother David Bass; her sister, Rita (Doug) Green; her special cousins who would visit Jean often, Diana Bass and Jo Ellen Bass; her brothers-in-law Robert (Kathy) Strapp and Joseph (Myrna) Strapp, and sisters-in-law Cathy McIntire and Nancy Strapp; her step-grandsons, Ryan and Connor Strapp as well as her cousin, Terry Bass.
Jean was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom Strapp; her parents, Arthur Bass and Geraldine (Broderick) Bass; her step-mother, Bev Bass; sisters-in-law Carolyn Strapp and Cynthia Rizzutti and brothers-in-law, John Strapp and Tom McIntire.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Walter & Lewis Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Jean will be laid to rest next to her beloved Tom at Oak Dale Cemetery.
.Jean's life was a beautiful blend of love, faith, and perseverance, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and cherished her.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Ohio in Jean's honor. Condolences are forwarded to the family by visiting www.walterfunerals.com
